Short Post 1/26 Michele

Even though Sojourner Truth's speech was the shortest reading for tomorrow's class, that is the piece that spoke to me the most. Because it is her own words as spoken to the audience in an informal manner, the words seems so much more sincere and captivating than a formal speech usually is. I thought it was very astute of her that she mentioned that the women needed to keep fighting at that point more than ever because right after the abolition of slaver people were still fired up and in the state of mind where they could accept some change. If they waited a few years, then people would go back to their comfortable way of life and be more resistant to the idea of womens suffrage. I think that reiterates the idea that if we keep bringing up inequalities and fighting for them, then people will eventually notice and some change will take place.
